Work resumes on Adirondack Rail Trail

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Sunny spring weather means a return to work for a rail trail project in the Adirondacks, On Friday, the DEC announced the resumption of work on phase 1 of the Adirondack Rail Trail. As the project uses an existing corridor, the affected area will be closed while construction is underway to link the two communities. Recreation is allowed at users' own risk along parts of the corridor where construction has yet to begin.Once finished, the Adirondack Rail Trail will link Lake Placid and Saranac Lake further still to Tupper Lake, spanning 34 miles. The trail will be made of compacted stone dust, and its first phase is expected to be complete by the fall. Making their way out of the initial pool of nominees, Chatham Brewing’s “Trowbridge Burger” in Chatham, and Illusive Restaurant & Bar’s “The Bougee Burger” in Rensselaer are among the Top 10. SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- SPORTIME, a sports complex in Schenectady, has announced its reopening plans after a fire broke out on April 11, badly damaging the building. ST. LOUIS - A new study ranked Missouri and Illinois as two of the worst US states for single parents to raise a family. Business research firm Lending Tree revealed a list earlier this month that ranked the best and worst places for single parents. Missouri and Illinois both ranked in the bottom 10 of states, 44th and 42nd respectively. Trending: Is it legal to collect rainwater in Missouri & Illinois? Lending Tree analyzed Census data in all 50 states and assigned scores based on several pieces of criteria, including income, affordability and workplace protection. Two natural gas companies in Colorado part of $9.25 million fine by EPA over Clean Air Act violations

Two natural gas processors doing business in Colorado agreed this week to multi-million dollar settlements with the federal government over continuous violations of the Clean Air Act that contributed to the state’s ongoing ozone pollution problem.The companies also agreed to make repairs to leaky equipment at their facilities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ozone pollution, which cause breathing problems.One operator, which does business under the name WES DJ Gathering LLC, agreed to pay $3.25 million in connection with faulty equipment at three contiguous gas processing plants known as the Fort Lupton Complex, which is about 35 miles north of Denver.The company, which is a subsidiary of Western Midstream Partners, also agreed to replace aging equipment and to take some outdated technology out of commission, according to a news release from the Environmental Protection Agency’s Region 8 office.That settlement will be split evenly between Colorado and the U.S. gove...
