I was in the room in 2010 when Steve Jobs introduced the Apple iPad, and ever since then, Apple has pretty much dominated the tablet market. There has been competition from the likes of Samsung, Lenovo and Amazon, but Apple has 55% of the U.S. tablet market, followed by Samsung (19%), Amazon (11%), unknown vendors (13%) and Google at a far distant 0.52%, according to Statcounter. Globally, Google’s market share is even closer to zero.Related ArticlesBusiness | Magid: Inexpensive speakers for outdoor listening Business | I joined Threads on Day 1. Here is my experience. But changing language is not quite so simple

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Elon Musk may want to send “tweet” back to the birds, but the ubiquitous term for posting on the site he now calls X is here to stay — at least for now.For one, the word is still plastered all over the site formerly known as Twitter. Write a post, you still need to press a blue button that says “tweet” to publish it. To repost it, you still tap “retweet.”But it's more than that. With “tweets,” Twitter accomplished in just a few years something few companies have done in a lifetime: It became a verb and implanted itself into the lexicon of America and the world. Upending that takes more than a top-down declaration, even if it is from the owner of Twitter-turned-X, who also happens to be one of the world's richest men. Here’s how much it costs to see Taylor Swift at Levi’s Stadium “Language has always come from the people that use it on a day-to-day basis. And it can’t be controlled, it can’t be created, it can’t be morphed. You don’...Gilroy man arrested on suspicion of assault, vandalism

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Christian Yelich heard all the talk about whether he ever could recapture the MVP form he showed early in his Milwaukee Brewers tenure. Eventually, he realized he needed to stop listening to it.That attitude has him playing as well as he has since those peak seasons.“If you’re always trying to please people or care what people think, it’s going to beat you up mentally,” Yelich said. “As soon as you don’t (care) anymore about what people think, and you’re just like, ‘You know what, I’m going to help this team win. I’m going to be the best version of myself for the guys in this clubhouse and just try and help everybody win today,’ it’s just a good mentality to have.”Yelich, 31, is one of five major leaguers with at least 20 homers and 15 steals this season. He ranks among the top 10 National League players in steals (6th, 22), runs (6th, 73), batting average (8th, .290) and on-base percentage (10th, .376).The left fielder has sparked the Brewers to a 1 ½-game lead in ...Captain Horan sets the tone for United States at the Women’s World Cup

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — Lindsey Horan is setting a feisty tone for the United States at the Women’s World Cup.Horan, the U.S. co-captain, steadied herself after an angry exchange with Dutch midfielder Danielle van de Donk and scored to give the United States a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands on Thursday.Frustrated by the Netherlands’ first half lead, Horan went from exasperation with van de Donk to elation for her tying goal in a span of just two minutes in the second half.“To come from a goal down and have that momentum shift in the second half was incredible. I think no one was happy with our first-half performance, letting them have the ball a little bit too much, but we changed things, and how we responded,” she said. The tie keeps the United States atop the Group E standings, in front of the Netherlands with a better goal difference, and in good position to advance to the knockout round. The Americans wrap up group play on Tuesday against Portugal. The United States is...Biden announces an advanced cancer research initiative as part of his ‘moonshot’ effort
