(KRON) -- A robbery suspect who allegedly tried to escape police by jumping into a lagoon was arrested Sunday morning, according to the San Mateo Police Department. San Mateo PD officers responded at 6:41 a.m. Sunday to the 600 block of Vanessa Drive in response to a resident who saw two men on security camera trying to enter a locked gate onto their property.Unable to open the gate, the men left, according to police. Federal workers in SF told to work from home due to safety concerns: reports Multiple officers were deployed in the area to look for the suspects. One neighbor told police he was attacked by men who matched the description of the suspects and that his phone had been stolen.One suspect, identified as Marvin Serrano, was located by officers and stopped. (KRON) -- Two people are dead following two separate traffic collisions that occurred in San Jose over the weekend, according to the San Jose Police Department. Friday, August 11Around 5 p.m., a collision involving two cars occurred at the intersection of Berryessa Road and Sabal Drive. A 2016 Chrysler 200 was traveling eastbound on Berryessa Road when it struck a 2012 Honda Accord as the Chrysler was turning onto Sabal Drive, police said. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals. The driver of the Chrysler, a man who was the sole occupant of the car, sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly after, SJPD said. This incident marks the city's 29th fatal collision of 2023. Prince George’s County, Maryland, police have a suspect in custody who they say crashed outside Joint Base Andrews after reportedly firing shots at another car Sunday.One person was seriously hurt in the crash.At about 1:40 p.m. Sunday, a driver called 911 said they were being followed on Suitland Road by a black BMW that was “firing shots” at them, according to authorities.Several minutes later, a Morningside police cruiser allegedly spotted a BMW that matched the description at the intersection of Suitland Road and Allentown Road. Federal officials are investigating an incident in which a private plane was told to abort its landing to avoid hitting a Southwest Airlines jet that was using the same runway to take off in the latest in a series of recent close calls between planes.The Federal Aviation Administration said Monday that it is investigating the incident, which happened Friday at San Diego International Airport.A Cessna Citation business jet was told to cut short its approach to landing and circle around because a Southwest plane was still on the runway, the FAA said.
