It's one of the first things you see when you get anywhere near Six Flags Great America. Sky Trek Tower stands tall near the entrance of the park. The Intamin Gyro Tower attraction takes guests up 285 feet in the air, slowly rotating and offering incredible views of the park and the entire Lake County area. At a total height of 330 feet, Sky Trek is the tallest free-standing structure in the county. The attraction opened in 1977, just one year after Great America first opened their gates in 1976. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and Great America eventually reopened, social distancing rules were still in effect. Unfortunately, the tight quarters inside the Sky Trek ride vehicle meant it couldn't open. It's been sitting empty for the last four years, guests wondering w...Traveling this summer?
