Environmental group claims responsibility after dozens of cars left with deflated tires in Beacon Hill An environmental group has claimed responsibility after dozens of cars in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood had their tires deflated on Wednesday night. The group Tyre Extinguishers said it targeted gas-guzzling SUV’s. Speaking on Thursday, neighbors were left bewildered. “I’m flabbergasted,” area resident Jim Nally said. “It solves nothing.”  Tyre Extinguishers said it deflated tires on 43 luxury SUVs, saying the cars are dangerous to the environment, especially in cities where there are sustainable transit options available. 7NEWS found deflated tires and leaflets left by the activists on several streets in Beacon Hill, including Mount Vernon Street, and Brimmer Street, where five vehicles in a row were hit. In each case, a leaflet read “Your gas guzzler kills.” Tina Truedson said one of her friends who drives a Jeep had her car’s tires flattened. “Actually she was very good about it and said ‘My car does use a lot of gas,’” Truedson sa...

Plans underway for Biden to announce bid for second term next week (CNN) — Plans are in motion for President Joe Biden to formally announce his bid for a second term as soon as next week, with a campaign-style video set to be released to definitively answer the question of whether he will run again and igniting an aggressive fundraising effort to help Democrats hold the White House.Biden’s small circle of close-knit advisers and allies are preparing for a video announcement Tuesday that would coincide with the anniversary of Biden’s 2019 campaign announcement, according to four sources familiar with the matter.Advisers inside and outside the White House caution that timing could still change, pending unforeseen events, but a decision has been reached that it is “no longer helpful or necessary to not just say the obvious: He’s running,” a senior Democratic official told CNN.Both sentimental and fond of an anniversary, Biden has signed off on a plan to formalize his intentions as soon as Tuesday...

Column: Red-hot Chicago Cubs walking on air as they begin a homestand against the LA Dodgers. ‘The team is playing like we hoped.’ The Chicago Cubs returned to Wrigley Field on Thursday on the heels of a 5-1 West Coast trip, looking very much like a team determined to prove its hot start is not a fluke. While it’s easy for fans to get excited about the 11-6 record, how many games will it take for President Jed Hoyer to feel this is who the Cubs really are?“One (hundred) forty,” Hoyer said with a laugh. That would be another 123 games, or well into the playoff race in September. By that point the Bears will be back and hogging the spotlight again, as happens in Chicago even if one or both of the baseball teams are contenders. When Hoyer turned serious, he said the thing that encouraged him most about the start was the fact the team believes in itself and comes into each game prepared to win.“They come in every day prepared, they’re talking about baseball all the time, there’s real intensity there all the time,” Hoyer said. “The effort level to me I know isn’t go...

Oregon secures 3-year supply of abortion-inducing medication SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Oregon Gov.
