DENVER (KDVR) — Fill your car up with gas, grab those hiking boots and head to one of Colorado's national parks on Friday. Admission to all four parks will be free.For only five days in 2023, the National Park Service opens the gates to all who want to explore the natural beauty of the U.S. for free. And, the next free day is Friday, Aug. 4. Aug. 4 celebrates the third anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act. The act was passed in 2020 and provides funding to improve infrastructure and expand recreation opportunities in national parks and other public lands. A South Florida family on Monday pleaded with the public for answers after their loved one was shot and killed at a nightclub in Lauderdale Lakes.On July 4, 29-year-old Travis Turner was celebrating with friends at the VYPZ nightclub, located on State Road 7 near Northwest 44th Street, when he was shot and killed. According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, there was an altercation that broke out, which led to the shots being fired. Turner was struck and was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman who was also at the scene was injured but has since recovered.Turner’s family said he had plans on being a father and dreams of starting a family. Emergency responders arrived at a crash in Fort Lauderdale after a dumpster truck flipped on its side.The incident occurred at the intersection of Southeast 17th Street and Eisenhower Boulevard just before noon Monday. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and found two people with minor injuries. As a result of the wreck, police have closed off a portion of the road. Officers are on the scene to divert traffic to one lane so drivers should expect delays in the area. A woman walking along the Charles River in Waltham was reportedly assaulted Sunday night, according to Massachusetts State Police who are trying to track down the suspect.The woman in her 20s was walking on the footbridge between Newton Street and Farewell Street near Shaw’s at around 8 p.m., she told police.The woman then heard footsteps come up from behind, and she was reportedly grabbed by someone who tried to put his hand over her mouth, according to State Police.The woman screamed, and the suspect let go of her and ran off.She described the suspect as a man in his 30s or 40s, with tan skin, average height and with athletic build. He was wearing a baseball hat.Units from Mass State Police and Waltham Police responded and searched the area, but they were not able to find the suspect. Utilities in Georgia, Florida and Alabama are receiving the electricity.Nuclear power now makes up about 25% of the generation of Georgia Power, the largest unit of Atlanta-based Southern Co.A fourth reactor is also nearing completion at the site, where two earlier reactors have been generating electricity for decades. LINCOLNTON, N.C. (AP) — Six migrant workers who were intentionally hit by an SUV in a Walmart parking lot in North Carolina have been released from the hospital, police said on Monday. The workers were rammed by a vehicle outside a Walmart in Lincolnton on Sunday in what appears to have been an intentional assault, but Maj. Brian Greene, interim chief of the Lincolnton Police Department, said the driver’s motives are still under investigation.
