If it’s Fourth of July in America, it’s former San Jose and Vallejo resident Joey Chestnut downing hot dogs faster than any other competitor.Chestnut added to his legacy Tuesday with his eighth straight Independence Day victory in the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York.Chestnut, 39, downed 62 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, 13 better than runner-up Geoffrey Esper, of the United States.Chestnut’s victory was his 16th of the past 17 hot-dog eating contests. (BCN) -- A Humvee stolen Monday night from the National Guard armory in Santa Rosa has since been spotted driving around Sonoma County, officials said Tuesday. The hulking green vehicle was stolen sometime around 10:20 p.m., when someone apparently scaled the fence at the armory, located at 1500 Armory Drive, said California Highway Patrol Officer Marcus Hawkins. (KSEE/KGPE) -- A Los Banos home was destroyed Sunday night in a blaze that authorities believe was sparked by illegal fireworks, according to the Los Banos Police Department. Bay Area fireworks shows for Fourth of July Police received a call reporting a large fire on the 1000 block of Acaciawood Court just before 10 p.m. Officers say they arrived to find a residence fully engulfed in flames, and they observed the fire was spreading to the house next door. Flames were also reaching north to two houses on Parkwood Drive. One home was ultimately destroyed by the fire, and three other homes suffered damage to trees, fencing, and outdoor sheds, according to officials.Investigators said they noticed evidence of illegal firework use at one of the homes. (AP) — A Massachusetts woman who went missing last week has been found alive in a swampy area of a state park after hikers heard the woman’s cries for help, police said.Emma Tetewsky, 31, was reported missing on June 26, and police in recent days had appealed to the public for help in finding her.Officers were called Monday evening to Borderland State Park, about 30 miles (50 kilometers) south of Boston, after hikers called 911 and reported hearing a woman’s screams coming from a swampy area of the park, according to Easton Police investigators.Police arrived and heard Tetewsky’s cries through thick bush, but couldn’t see her.
