(AP) — Hunter Brown combined with two relievers on a two-hitter and the Houston Astros shut out the major league-best Tampa Bay Rays for the second straight game, 1-0 on Wednesday night.Brown (3-0) had a career-high eight strikeouts and walked two in his seven innings. The governor and state lawmakers both said solving the state's housing crisis was a priority at the start of this year's session, but as time runs out, two separate bills relating to housing took big blows within 24 hours. DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado lawmakers are sorting through controversial legislation as they race toward the end of the session. In the Senate Health and Human Services committee Wednesday afternoon, a bill that would allow cities to open so-called "overdose prevention" sites failed to pass, with lawmakers voting 6-3 to postpone the bill indefinitely. The bill would have allowed cities and towns to create overdose prevention centers, or supervised use sites where drugs could be tested for fentanyl and people could get counseling and connect to treatment. Rent control bill fails in committee It cleared the House floor back on March 11. Hours of testimony were heard on it last Thursday, which was 4/20.Lawmakers took it up for action only on Wednesday. Athletes and members of law enforcement laced up their sneakers for a good cause in Pompano Beach at the annual Torch Run.Officers on Wednesday joined a group of Special Olympics athletes to raise money so they can train for the games.The run, held every year in Pompano Beach, was just under 10 miles.There were smiles all around for those who took part.“It’s great to be able to come out here and support the Special Olympics and, you know, running through all the different events,” said participant Darwin Arroyo, “and it’s very rewarding and fulfilling, so I encourage everybody to come do it and join in.”The event also helps raise awareness and support for the mission of Special Olympics Florida, which provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports.Crews rescue pelican found stuck in sand on North Beach shore
