Washington County deputy to appeal ruling in wrongful-death lawsuit Washington County officials said Tuesday they are appealing a portion of a U.S. District Court judge’s order that let stand a wrongful-death lawsuit against a sheriff’s deputy who shot and killed a suicidal man during a 2018 standoff in Lake Elmo.In a ruling issued July 6, U.S. District Judge Michael Davis denied Deputy Brian Krook’s motion for summary judgment in the case involving the death of Benjamin Evans on April 12, 2018. Krook in 2020 was acquitted of manslaughter by a Washington County jury.Benjamin Evans, 23, of Lake Elmo, was shot and killed by a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy on April 12, 2018. Robert Fisher pleads not guilty to rape, murder of 3-year-old TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Robert Fisher, 33, pleaded not guilty to murdering and raping a three-year-old child in Rensselaer County Court Aug. 2. Fisher walked into court in handcuffs, facing a full courtroom including about a dozen first responders. He pleaded not guilty to second degree murder and first degree rape of a three-year-old child. Investigators tell News10 they responded to the scene, on Broadway in Rensselaer, shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Jul. 7 to a 911 call about a child in distress. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A husband and wife from Villa Ridge, Missouri, are facing up to 30 years in state prison for sending sexually-explicit messages to a person posing as a child, and then driving to University City to meet said "child."According to a report filed by the University City Police Department, officers were called to a home in the 6300 block of Cabanne Avenue by a concerned citizen.This person had been posing online as an 11-year-old girl, and had been communicating with a married couple, identified as William and Rachel Burns, over Facebook Messenger since July 9. The conversations allegedly contained discussions of love, sex, masturbation, and eventually meeting the 11-year-old in person, and her staying overnight at the couple's home in Franklin County. Missouri officials to discuss cleanup challenges at Weldon Springs ST. CHARLES – A town hall is being held tonight to discuss cleanup challenges at a former chemical plant in St. Charles County. The meeting will be held at New Mele Community Center, 4700 State Highway Z on Wednesday Aug. 2 at 6:30 p.m.Officials plan to share historical documents from federal and state agencies to show there are more toxin runoffs at the Weldon Springs Site on Highway 94. They will also bring in experts to talk about how these toxins damage people's health, the economy, and infrastructure. Illinois village keeps flooding and no one knows why The Weldon Spring Site is 30 miles west of St. Louis, in St. Charles County. The Weldon Spring Chemical Plant was used in the Manhattan Project. Newly released papers show how the United States' push for the atomic bomb caused St. Louis to have a long-term problem with radioactive waste.
