Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be able to count on an investigation by the New York City Police Department to back up their claims that they endured a “near-catastrophic,” two-hour car chase at the hands of “highly aggressive” paparazzi who caused “multiple near collisions” with other drivers, pedestrians and two police officers. The NYPD has concluded that the incident warrants “no further investigation,” the New York Times has reported. This statement indicates that police don’t believe anyone — including the paparazzi or members of the royal couple’s security team — broke any laws.As the New York Times said in a report on Friday, early reports about the May 16 incident repeated claims from the couple’s publicist and other allies that the chase was “relentless,” “near fatal” and supposedly involved the couple’s SUV being followed by other SUVS with black-out windows and...Bay Area Rock Hall of Fame act will continue tour without ailing lead singer

By Ella Nilsen | CNNThree Southwest states announced Monday they have struck a historic deal to cut millions of gallons of Colorado River water usage over the next four years, about half of which would be completed by next year, in an effort to stave off a crisis at the nation’s largest reservoirs. The deal between California, Arizona and Nevada agrees to cut at least 3 million acre-feet of water through 2026 – around 10% of the states’ Colorado River allocation – water that would otherwise be used to irrigate farms, generate hydropower or feed municipal drinking water systems. The water cuts would be split up among farmers, tribes and cities who are working with the federal government on short-term payments in exchange for water savings. Most of the cuts would be compensated with at least $1 billion in federal funds from the Inflation Reduction Act. About 1.5 million acre-feet of that water is set to be cut by the end of 2024.The plan still must be finalized after a federal environme...BBQ cookbooks: Pitmasters, chefs, a blogger and a Brit share recipes, advice

Wonderful as they may be, Princess Fiona, Pitbull and Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger are slightly odd choices to serve as cruise ship godparents, the ceremonial figurehead who christens a new ship. But it’s true: Shrek’s wife is the godmother of Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas, rapper Pitbull is godfather of the Norwegian Escape, and Scherzinger, former lead singer of one of the best-selling girl groups ever, recently made the most of her largely honorific duty by blessing P&O Cruises’ flagship, Arvia.Which brings us to the cruising world’s newest godmother, and unlike the aforementioned or the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders — collective godmother of the Norwegian Getaway, really? — this one makes sense.Giada De Laurentiis, the Italian-American chef, writer and television personality, was in Malta on May 8 to christen Oceania Cruises’ newest flagship, MS Vista. With two cups of charm, a pint of grace and a splash of Champagne off the portside bow, the Food Network star...Hwy 101 reopened following deadly crash in Sunnyvale

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russian officials claimed that Ukrainian military saboteurs launched an attack across the border Monday, wounding eight people in a small town. Kyiv officials denied any link with the group and blamed the fighting on a revolt by disgruntled Russians against the Kremlin.Neither version of events could be independently verified in an area that has witnessed sporadic spillover from the almost 15-month war in Ukraine. The governor of Russia’s Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, said that a Ukrainian Armed Forces saboteur group entered the town of Graivoron, about five kilometers (three miles) from the border. The town also came under Ukrainian artillery fire, he said.Gov. Vyacheslav Gladkov said eight people were wounded and most residents have left the area, but the situation remains “tense.” In nearby Zamostye village, a projectile hit a kindergarten and caused a fire. One woman was wounded in her hand, Gladkov said. He also reported that Russian anti-aircraft ...Florida man loses arm after gator attack behind bar
