(The Hill) - Basketball legend Charles Barkley plans to rewrite his will in an effort to make his alma mater, Auburn University, “more diverse” in the wake of the Supreme Court striking down affirmative action last week. Barkley, who is set to headline a new primetime weekly CNN show “King Charles,” with longtime broadcaster Gayle King this fall, told media outlet AL.com that he wanted to do something to help black students at his alma mater after hearing the news. Barkley, also known as “Sir Charles,” initially had in his will his plan to donate $5 million to the Alabama-based University.“In my will, I am leaving Auburn $5 million,” the 60-year-old NBA Legend told the media outlet on Friday. “I’m going to change it to be just for scholarships for Black students. That’s just my way of trying to make sure Auburn stays diverse.”“I love Auburn,” Barkley added. “I’ve actually changed it to be used for kids from poor homes. But after that ruling yesterday, my phone was blowing up. I...Indiana Jones’ box office destiny? A $60 million debut

Indiana Jones, and executives at the Walt Disney Co. and Lucasfilm, made a somewhat dispiriting discovery this weekend. Moviegoers didn't rush to the theater in significant numbers to see “ Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" and say goodbye to Harrison Ford as the iconic archaeologist. The film, reportedly budgeted north of $250 million, came in on the lower end of projections with $60 million in ticket sales from 4,600 North American theaters, according to studio estimates Sunday.Including $70 million from international showings in 52 markets, “Dial of Destiny” celebrated a $130 million global opening. It easily earned the No. 1 title but was not the high-rolling sendoff for one of modern cinema’s most iconic actor/character pairings that anyone hoped. Disney is projecting that it will make $82 million domestically through the fourth of July holiday and $152 million globally. Some, such as the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma, are in states where abortion is largely banned.Over-the-counter purchase of Pl...Silver Alert discontinued for 82-year-old Kerrville woman

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The UAlbany Men's basketball has been putting in some off season work with some of the old, and new faces to the team. One of the area's they've been working on other than the team chemistry on the floor, are the relationship's off the court. An area that head coach Dwayne Killings believes that last season wasn't the strong point of his team. Building that chemistry early has brought some optimism about what can be expected from the Great Danes in 2023. "I didn't think we had the kind of deep relationships we needed to be a really strong team last year," Killings said. "So, we're spending time off the court, we've done some things already, we'll have what we call mentality meetings on Sunday's or culture meeting's to talk about things that are most important to us, relationships, discipline, commitment, energy, trust, selflessness, toughness those things are really important to our program, but I think we need to define them and really understand them and r...Ask Amy: Reader remains in a COVID lockdown

Dear Amy: I’m stuck in a deep hole.I didn’t think the COVID lockdown would affect me much because I’m an introvert and a homebody, but I’m finding it difficult to make myself leave the house. I only go to the grocery store and to my doctors’ offices — and occasionally to a family member’s house. One factor is that I moved to a new town just a couple of months before COVID hit, so I don’t have any local friends.I’m retired, so I don’t have any work buddies.I know that joining groups is a good way to meet people.I joined a church, but rarely go. I “plan to” join a quilting club and to get together with a group that plays an AR (augmented reality) game I used to play all the time.My husband sometimes suggests we go somewhere, but when I think about going out my stomach tightens, and I feel like I want to cry.How do I get past this?— Want Out!Dear Want Out!: Your recognition that this is a problem, and your desire to change your situation, are very good signs that you can creep out of th...Latest news
